about

Forest samples remixed, for a live performance at the Adam Concert Room.

A studio edit of my first full-length foray into the wonderful world of Found Sound.

The sounds of the beautiful Catchpool Valley area were recorded by Victoria University electronic music students, and circulated amongst interested musicians, including members of the While_you_were_Sleeping collective.

Each musicians came up with their interpretation of the forest soundscape. Mine was more inclined to the abstract bass-heavy beat-fest side of the forest, lurking somewhere just below the forest floor.

Although there were no train wrecks on the night, my computer was really struggling to bring me up to date information on what was actually playing.., so this set has been edited to bring some samples into sync and to bring the levels up, for your listening pleasure...

Big thanks to Peter May for making the event possible. The wonderful Biosphere was headlining the gig, so I both got to play out AND see one of my all-time favourite musicians play live in my home town!

The process of hacking and recomposing sonic artefacts creates memory triggers, which fold time and preserve the past.

Persevering through a cacophony of layered, jumbled observations, the listener is rewarded with a Zen experience, and blazing moments of extreme beauty.
